It is not that widely known but a high number of burglaries are committed by gaining access through the glass units themselves. Having laminated glass fitted instead, although not unbreakable, does offer effective resistance against access being gained in this way, PAS 24 compliant products which form part on New Build regulations have laminated glass fitted for this reason.

There are homes where a laminated glass upgrade into the existing frames would be cost effective and a good choice of security enhancement but if your home has a number of vulnerable areas or large glass areas that could be easily accessed then other security enhancement options or technologies are most likely going to be the more cost effective choice.
